A business camera handover checklist: what to review before sign-off
Check the views, playback and access your team will depend on after installation.

Bring the agreed coverage plan
Use the estimate or installation scope as the agenda for handover. Walk through the entrances, stockrooms, customer spaces and other agreed areas. For each view, ask what it is designed to show. Discuss any differences between the proposal and the completed installation before signing off.
Review more than the live picture
Ask to see how to find and play back a short recording. Check that you understand the controls and how to export a clip if the selected system supports that feature. Agree how any scene conditions that could not be checked during the visit will be reviewed later.
- Can your authorized operator find a particular time?
- Does the camera list make sense to your team?
- Is the recording arrangement explained in the handover notes?
Confirm who has access
Identify the people who should manage the system and who needs day-to-day viewing. Ask how access can be changed when staff responsibilities change. Keep account details in your organization’s approved storage rather than posting them beside a recorder or sharing them in a public project document.
Collect the practical details
Request the equipment list, agreed support contact and any relevant instructions provided with the installation. Record where the main components are located and who is responsible for routine checks. Ask how to report an issue and what information will help the installer investigate it.
Make the checklist fit the business
A shop, warehouse and multi-room office will not have identical priorities. Add your own operational requirements to this checklist. It is a starting point for a clear handover conversation, not a certification that a system meets every security or organizational requirement.
